Newton’s concept of orbital mechanics is flawed. He incorrectly imagines that we can balance an accelerated velocity like gravity with a fixed velocity like inertia (the fired projectile or cannonball)
The imagined projectile would have to be able to accelerate in order to compensate for gravity’s ever increasing power.
Newton’s cannonball thought experiment is flawed as we cannot balance an ever increasing velocity with a fixed one. The imagined cannonball will strike the Earth at some point.
One cannot demonstrate this concept with actual physical experiment. Instead we get a mathematical model. Math can be modified with expression so 2+2 is 5 every other Saturday.

The real punchline is that are these are Newton’s thoughts at all? He’s just another frontman.
