Yes, perfect example rgos. The horizon appears to rise to the the eye-line. It’s the same effect with the sun going down.
With a strong enough lens, the things behind the wall of water in your picture , will return to view.

What is happening is that our eyes, when looking to the horizon, unable to see the true vanishing point ( infinity), fix a lower finite point and hence our perspective is lowered and it presents the optical illusion of a kind of wall .

This is what we see when we look out to sea and why the horizon always appears to rise to our eye-line. It’s an optical trick. Well that’s the theory, anyway.

OK, Ab…you are absolutely right. When you first had a ball earth skeptic on your site, I remembered an experience from 40 years ago. I stood on the shore of Indian Dunes State park and could see the Chicago skyline. I did not make anything of the powerful image until now. It is physically impossible to see the Chicago skyline on a ball Earth. The skyline is approximately 50 miles from the Dune State park.

http://chicagocamping.org/chicago-campgrounds-indiana-dunes-state-park/

50 x 50 = 2500 x 8 inches = 20,000 inches divided by 12 = 1, 666 feet. The Sears Tower is 1,450 ft. The curved should put the entrance of the building 1, 666 feet below the horizon. The top, 216 ft below the horizon.

Let’s say the Earth was a ball but that the ball was 10, 20, 30, 50, 100? times larger than we’ve been told. Perhaps you could see the skyline (Toronto, Chicago, etc) without measuring any significant curvature.

Unlikely, but I’m just pointing this out for hypothetical argument’s sake. It doesn’t prove the Earth isn’t a ball, it just proves the Earth isn’t the ball we’ve been given.

Maybe it’s flat, maybe not. But with all the thousands of flat earth videos hitting Youtube and all over the web these days, it just smells too much like a psyop designed to distract and discredit, more than anything else.

They’re hiding something, I think we can all agree on that… but let’s just admit that we have no idea what’s going on. 🙂

“but let’s just admit that we have no idea what’s going on.”

No thanks, dont discredit your own experience or anothers’. If you never went to school or watched television none of the manufactured doubt you are protecting in your own psyche would even exist.

Flat Earth has nothing to do with youtube popularity, correlation does not equal causation. More youtube views will never make the earth change shape one way or the other.

Go outside, its flat.

When specifically looking at this evidence, I think Sami makes a fair point, Johan. It might be a giant ball.
I certainly don’t make that leap and nor does he. but how do we know it isn’t?

Lux highlights a classic piece of mainstream propaganda from The Marx Brothers, promoting the idea that ‘stupid-flat-Earthers-think-there’s-an-edge’.

There’s been so much of this going on over time, that a knee-jerk reaction among a majority, that ‘flat-earthers think there’s an edge’ is guaranteed.
In view of that, Sami’s simple observation that it could be a giant ball, based on this evidence of looking across water, is valid, I think.
It shows he’s looking at the evidence properly.

On such a touchy subject, I don’t think that’s a bad idea.

In the documentary film, “A Night At The Opera” the famous explorer Chico Marx describes his heroic attempt to find The Great Edge of the Earth:

“The first time we started we get-a half-way across when we run out of gasoline and we gotta go back. Then I take-a twice as much gasoline. This time we just about to land, maybe three feet, then what do you think? We run out of gasoline again. And back we go again to get more gas. This time I take-a plenty gas. Well we get-a half way over and what do you think happened? We forgot-a the airplane. So we gotta sit down and talk it over. Then I get-a the great idea. We no take-a the gasoline, we no take-a the airplane. We take-a the steamship. And that, friends, is how we fly across the ocean.”

Too bad that Mr Marx had not yet learned the awful truth that the location of the The Edge is known only by the Magic Pixie Fairies of Greenland and they’re not talking.
